OBJECTIVES
To continue to keep in close liaison with all ICD Manufacturers in the UK. The Companies have always offered their support and information about their devices, which they manufacture. We then pass on valuable information to patients and their families.
Medtronic has also offered to provide a speaker at any Meetings/social gatherings that we may have.
To continue to pursue close liaison with the Cardiac Management Committee of the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in order to promote the benefits of our Support Group to Patients and their Families.
This is with a view to developing closer working relationships with the Cardiac Wards in order to make patient contact before and after implantation.
Recruiting Patients/Families to our Group in order to raise awareness of the benefits to them of our Support Group in order to increase the numbers of our members, so that a better service may be maintained.
CPR Training - To offer basic life support training to patients’ families on request.
To continue to provide up to date Information on Defibrillators
To make more patients and their families aware of what to do when a defibrillator delivers a therapy, i.e. when to call a doctor, ambulance and to record the events leading up to the shock. Information on ‘keeping calm’ until expert help arrives. See our Telephone Helpline page for ICD patients only.
To recruit more Volunteers for Telephone Helpline and Hospital Visits
Counselling Skills Training Courses for both Hospital Visitors and Telephone Helpline Volunteers
