CYCLE 2000 is a local group of leisure cyclists who socialise and have fun cycling. CYCLE 2000 also tries to provide a voice for local cyclists who want better conditions for everyday cycling in North Staffordshire.
We MEET SOCIALLY at 9 pm on the FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH at “The Greyhound” pub, George Street, Newcastle (next to the roundabout junction of Hartshill Road and Shelton New Road). The 2010 dates are 5 January, 2 February, 2 March, 6 April, 4 May, 1 June, 6 July, 3 August, 7 September, 5 October, 2 November (AGM) and 7 December (annual dinner).
The LONG RIDES are on the FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH and last most of the day (40+ miles in winter, 60+ miles in summer) with 2 or 3 cafe stops and suit riders who ride regularly.
The MEDIUM RIDES are also on the FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH from April to September and aim to return by 2 pm (about 30 miles) with one café stop and are at a gentle pace.
Also there are the LEISURELY RIDES on the THIRD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH from April to September which are morning rides (about 10 miles), mainly on greenway or towpath. For information see www.stoke.gov.uk/cycling.
For all rides riders should note that they take part at their own risk and junior riders must be accompanied by an adult. You should bring suitable clothing in case of rain or cold weather; a spare inner tube, pump and tools in case of a puncture and a drink and snack.
